When Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his visit to Saudi Arabia, Congress recalled on Tuesday (April 22, 2025) that the Saudi king first visited India in India from November to December 1955, and since then, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru went to the Middle East the following year.

Jairam Ramesh, the internal secretary general of the Congress, shared two video clippings of the Saudi king’s visit in 1955 and Nehru’s visit to Saudi Arabia in 1956.

“When the Prime Minister began his visit to Saudi Arabia, it is worth recalling the first visit of the Saudi king from November to December 1955,” Ramesh said.
Saudi King Abdulziz Saudi Arabia spent 17 days in India between November 26 and December 13, 1955, visiting New Delhi, Mumbai, Kadakhvasla, Bangalore, Bangalore, Mysoru, Hyderabad, Agra, Arigal, Arigal and Varanasi, Mr Ramash at X.

After that, Mr. Ramesh recalled that the then Prime Minister Nehru visited Saudi Arabia from 24 to 28 September 1956.
Prime Minister Modi said on Tuesday (April 22, 2025) that India attaches great importance to its long and historic ties with Saudi Arabia and asserts that their relationship has gained strategic depth and momentum in recent years.
He said in his departure statement ahead of Mohammed bin Salman’s invitation to visit for a two-day visit, he said both countries had established mutually beneficial and substantial partnerships, including in the areas of defense, trade, investment, energy, energy and bonds with people.
