Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s “neutral and independent” election commission and said its management of the world’s largest democratic exercise should be studied by the global community.

In his speech to Podcaster Lex Fridman, PM Modi emphasized the enormous scale of the election process in India and emphasized its complexity and high political participation among citizens.
“In India, we have a neutral and independent election commission that takes charge of elections and makes all decisions. This is so great that major universities around the world should conduct case studies on their management,” Modi said.
He said that given the scale and political awareness involved, global communities should analyze how India’s electoral system works.
Mr Friedman noted that the election in India brought many interesting aspects and asked Modi if he found any of the stories that had an impact were particularly influential.
Modi mentioned the 2024 election and pointed out that there are 980 million registered voters – more than twice the population of North America, which is larger than the EU’s comprehensive population.
“Of courses of 980 million registered voters, 646 million walked out of the home to vote, even when the heat in May was so hot, the Prime Minister said in a podcast released on Sunday, “.
Prime Minister Modi stressed the logistics scale of the Indian elections and mentioned that more than 1 million polling stations have been established across the country and participated in more than 2,500 political parties.
He also noted that the media’s role in strengthening democracy has contributed to the process with more than 900 TV channels and 5,000 newspapers.
“The poorest citizens of our country have quickly adapted to the technology and voted through electronic voting machines and we were able to announce the results in one day,” Modi said.
He stressed India’s commitment to strengthen democracy through continuous efforts to increase voter participation and election transparency.
