PM Modi holds key cabinet committee meeting today

The CCS reportedly escalated tensions after the deadly terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, claiming 26 lives. Intelligence input links the attack to terrorist groups allegedly supported by Pakistan.
This will be the second CCS meeting after the Pahalgam incident. The former convened was a series of strong measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indian Water Treaty, the closure of the Atari border, the cancellation of visas signed to Pakistani nationals and the current immediate recall of Indian, Indian and Pakistani citizens.
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister conducted a separate high-level review with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Defense Chief Anil Chauhan, and Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs. It is said that at that meeting he had authorized the armed forces to determine the timing, nature and scale of any retaliatory action.

Of particular note is the meeting of the Cabinet Political Affairs Committee, which was finally convened after the 2019 Pulwama terrorist attacks to review the national security environment and achieve a strategic response.
