Jaishankar discusses Pahalgam attack with Greek colleagues, welcomes Greece against cross-border terrorism | Indian News

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar held a telephone conversation with his Greek counterpart George Gerapetritis on Tuesday to discuss the Pahargam terrorist attack. He also welcomed Greece’s “firm opposition” cross-border terrorism.

Jaishankar said in an article on X: “There was a good conversation with Greece’s FM George Gerapetris. The Pahalgam terrorist attack was discussed. Greece’s firm opposition to cross-border terrorism is welcomed. Our strategic partnership reflects the depth of our connection.”

The Pahalgam attack took place on April 22, killing 26 people and injuring several others after terrorists attacked tourists in Baisaran Meadow in Pahalgam.

After the attack, India’s support for Pakistan has taken strong measures to support cross-border terrorism. At a meeting of the Cabinet Security Committee (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 23, India decided to shelve the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty until Pakistan reliably and irrevocably ended its support for cross-border terrorism and closed the integrated restaurant.

India also announced the Pakistan High Commission role of the officials of Frata and ordered them to leave India within a week. In addition, the central government decided to cancel any visa issued under the SAARC Visa Scheme (SVE) and ordered Pakistani officials to leave the country within 48 hours. India has also suspended visa services for Pakistani nationals, which will take effect immediately. As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out in its press release, all existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals will come into effect on April 27, 2025.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the country that the terrorists responsible for the attack and the terrorists conspiring to the attack will face punishment beyond their imagination. “The terrorists responsible for the attack and those conspiring terrorists will face punishment,” Modi announced at a party held in Madhubani, Bihar on April 24, stressing that it is time to eliminate the remaining terrorism.

The Prime Minister stressed: “The willpower of the Indians 1.4 billion Indians will now break the backbone of the perpetrators of terror.” He further said: “We will determine, track and punish every terrorist, their handlers and their supporters, pursue them to the end of the earth. The spirit of India will never be broken by terrorism and no effort will be imposed. Terrorism will do its best.

Prime Minister Modi also confirmed that during this time, everyone who believes in humanity is with India.
