Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to visit Bihar on Thursday and announces several welfare plans for the polled state. This will be Mr. Modi’s second visit to the state since February.

The Prime Minister will also hold another event in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday to open and lay the foundation for a project worth more than Rs 200,000 crore. However, his visit has been in solidarity with those killed in J&K’s Pahalgam, including Kanpur resident Shubham.

In Madhubani in the Mithilanchal region of northern Bihar, PM plans to address a function in Jhanjharpur Block and distribute the 2025 National Panchayat Award. The award ceremony is hosted annually by the Panchayati Raj Ministry in recognition of the best performing Panchayats. Mr Modi will also launch the second Amrit Bharat Express train in Bihar along with some other passenger trains.

Madhubani MP Ashok Kumar Yadav of BJP expressed his gratitude to Mr. Modi, saying, “The Mithilanchal region expressed his gratitude to him”.

The BJP has been swaying in the Mithilanchal area in the past few elections. In the 2020 poll, the BJP-led NDA won over 60% of the seats in North Bihar. A senior party chief said the prime minister’s visit would help consolidate the vote of the NDA in the region.
