Poachers catch cameras of artificial forest

Adilabad: In a rare event, the camera trap was set up to monitor tiger movements within the Neelvai forest in the Manchester Rial region, accidentally capturing poachers entering the area for hunting.

The Forest Department installed camera traps in March to track tigers that once visited frequently in the area. According to Jaipur ACP A. Venkateshwarlu, poachers realize that their movements have been recorded. To escape the discovery of forests or police officers, they stole four camera traps from the Neelvai forest range.
Ironically, the stolen camera helped save the tiger from poachers’ prey. Forest staff earlier filed a complaint with Neelvai police, saying that on March 25, some camera traps disappeared.

The investigation shows that local poachers recorded two cameras while hunting antelope in Bada Tampali Forest Area on March 20, and their actions were recorded. They hide the equipment of Kola Tirupathi’s residence.

In a similar episode, the poacher was captured again by the camera during a hunt in the Mailaram Forest area. They then stole and destroyed two other camera traps. Police identified the poacher as a repeat offender, and during the investigation, four of them admitted to stealing and damaging the camera. Vemanapalli police officers have seized four camera traps and a hunting light powered by the defendant from the defendant on March 9.
