Musi Corp’s website is offline again

Hyderabad: The Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) website is offline again – this time showing “Service Unavailable” information, which has not been officially explained so far. The portal aims to share the latest information on recovery efforts, project tenders and public consultations, after spending a week in March. Then, MRDCL officials claimed it was a routine update.

Hydraulic conservationists and river activists have long lacked transparency around the project. “It’s not just how much they spend,” said BV Subba Rao, a senior environmentalist and water management expert. “We want to know what steps actually took. The rejuvenating area is the most chemically contaminated in the pharmaceutical industry. First, study it.”

Subba Rao said the French Embassy proposed another proposal with MRDCL earlier last year, and even the Telangana government reached out to experts like him. But there has been little clarity since then. He added: “People’s participation and transparency in the program is important. It has to be open and placed in the public sphere. How they address and the key to understanding people is crucial.”

The activists believe that the process remains shallow and disconnected from the ecologically fundamental reality as there are no detailed plans for flood control, chemical wastewater or biodiversity revitalization.
