Political tensions escalate to GVMC No-Trust in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: A vibrant political drama is unfolding here, as a parentheses for GVMC, on Saturday’s unconfidence motion against Mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari.

The movement is led by a TD-led alliance. It is speeding since Friday morning, developing strategies to ensure the majority of votes needed to remove the mayor.

In the dramatic twist of the defectors from YSRC to the league team, people arrived at Vizag late at night from Malaysia. Rumors are that the league leaders are in contact with the YSRC company currently in Sri Lanka to encourage them to transfer.

However, YSRC did not back down. The party issued a whip, working tirelessly to protect its company and retained the position of Mayor Hari Venkata Kumari.

The bet is high and both sides do their best to tilt the balance.

This political turmoil began last month when the Alliance Company submitted a notice of no confidence in the mayor to Harendheera Prasad. Since then, “camp politics” has become the center stage, with YSRC companies taking themselves from public life and traveling to Bangalore and Sri Lanka to reorganization.

In a major blow to YSRC, its four corporate players defected to the alliance in two days, strengthening the latter’s chances. However, the league still faces the daunting task of securing a majority. YSRC leader Amarnath said his party company’s companies would not participate in the motion, which could undermine the NDA’s plans.

As tensions escalate, more than 300 police officers were deployed to maintain orders. Only Ex-Officio and Ward members can enter the council hall and strictly instruct the partners to keep their phones in flight mode and perform proper identity.

Now, thanks to this motion of distrust, everyone is watching the GVMC, which can reshape the city’s political landscape.
