Sania Mirza’s ex-husband Shoaib Malik criticizes PSL 2025 participation: “It needs to be decided who…”

Last year, Shoaib Malik was appointed mentor for the Pakistani domestic stallion in the Champions League One Day Cup. As a result, his former teammate said Malik needed to decide whether he wanted to be a mentor or a player to avoid any conflict of interest.
Pakistani cricket star Shoaib Malik’s participation in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) has caused controversy. He is 43 years old and still sees playing in the international T20 format. The all-around player is currently playing for Quetta Gladiator’s PSL. Now, former teammate Mohammad Yousuf urges the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to participate in the Scanner’s T20 Championship and decide who can compete. Malik was appointed mentor to Pakistan’s domestic stallion who won the One Day Cup last year. As a result, Yusuf said he needed to decide whether he wanted to be a mentor or a player to avoid any conflict of interest.
“The PCB needs to draw a line about Shoaib Malik playing PSL. If you want me to play, I will even play,” Yusuf said on Samaa TV. He added: “I think the board needs to decide who can play and who can’t. The board needs to make some decisions. Everyone wants to play.”
In addition, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi believes Shoaib can play the time he wants, but asks him to consider making room for young talent. “He can play until he wants to. I met him recently at Moinhan Academy. He is training. At the time, the National Cup T20 was in progress. ShoaibMalik could play some games, but he should also miss some games so that the young people can get the chance because they have shown here,” Afridi said. Malik made his one-day international debut in 1999 on West Indies and made his debut in 2001 in a test against Bangladesh. From 2007 to 2009, he was the captain of the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
