Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a presentation meeting in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (15 April 2025) with observers from the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) and PRADESH Congress Committee (PCC) to discuss the process of identifying and selecting the President of the Gujarat department in Gujarat.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary-General (Organization) KC Venugopal and AICC Secretary-General.

“On Wednesday (16 April 2025), the pilot project will be launched from the Aravali district of North Gujarat, where Rahulji will have a dialogue with regional leaders and later meet with workers at the Booth-level party. The pilot program was launched from a region with 8.51 million voters,” said Shaktisisinh oghhils, chief of the Congress of Gujarat.

At the recently concluded two-day AICC meeting in Ahmedabad, the party said the Regional Congress Committee (DCCS) would be the basis of the party’s decision-making structure. It said they will gain power and be responsible for the performance of the political party.

The Observer team will present six names for each position in the regional department, with the final choice being proposed by May 31.

On April 12, the AICC appointed 42 AICC and 183 PCC observers to oversee the appointment of party committee chairs in eight major cities in 33 regions and eight Gujarat. A team of five observers – one four from the AICC, PCC – will visit the regional departments assigned to the region, stay in the region for at least three days, and meet with local party staff and personnel.

“Rahulji provides us with guidance from the regional president. The five-person observer will visit all 41 regional units between April 23 and May 8,” said Jagdish Thakor, former state legislator.

Former MLA Gyasuddin Shaikh told reporters that Mr Gandhi emphasized the need for leaders to participate in people’s struggles and raise questions because people are tired of the people being under the ruling BJP government. The party will not receive public support unless the leaders contact them, Mr. Sheikh quoted Mr. Gandhi in his two-hour plan for the state headquarters.
