Pope Leo Xiv was the first American to lead the Roman Catholic Church, and celebrated his inauguration Mass at St. Peter’s Square and emphasized the importance of building a church built on the love of God, emphasizing its role as a symbol of unity and a beacon of harmony to humanity. The ceremony attracted thousands of believers, world leaders and royal families. About 100,000 people attended the Mass and witnessed the warm interaction of the 267th person. The event was attended by prominent figures, including U.S. Vice President JD Vance, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. At the end of the Mass, Leo calls for a “just and lasting peace” in Ukraine and pray for Gaza where “children, family, elderly, survivors, survivors are reduced to hunger”.
