Pope Leo XIV calls for global peace and ceasefire in his first blessing

Pope Leo XIV calls on Ukraine to establish a just and lasting peace, with an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and release hostages and humanitarian aid in his first Sunday noon blessing. There will never be war again! Leo says from the porch of St. Peter’s Basilica.

Leo recalled the end of World War II, which quoted Pope Francis as denouncing the number of conflicts that have ravaged the world today, saying it was World War III.
