Farouk said: “The Supreme Court raised some tricky questions regarding the WAQF Amendment Act, and its interim position shows that new members will not be added to the WAQF board and that the ‘WAQF by-user’ property will not be added.

He said the interim instructions gave “the hope of Muslims, who looked up to the SC as the last recourse for relief and justice”. Mr Farooq added: “We hope that the top courts will revoke this biased and excessive behavior against the interests of the vast Muslim community.”
The Chief Minister of the Alliance Omar Abdullah said the Supreme Court observation and the subsequent climb of the Alliance government “reinforce our beliefs and we believe that our decision to challenge the WAQF Act with the Supreme Court on the Land is correct.”
“We hope the court will be able to make a comprehensive judgment to address all concerns in the Muslim community,” Abdullah said.
