Praja Arogya Vedika opposes the privatization of medical schools
Praja Arogya Vedika State President KVS Sai Prasad (Center) joined other members on Tuesday to release a poster at the upcoming state-level seminar at Vijayawada.
Praja Arogya Vedika (PAV) Governor KVS Sai Prasad said on Tuesday that the health of society depends on the health of the individual, but unfortunately, health care is increasing.
Dr. Sai Prasad, speaking to the media with G. Vijay Prakash, Secretary General of the NTR District of PAV, highlighted the shocking trend that poor people are further trapped in poverty due to the deterioration of the quality of government health care and the rise of privatization of the medical sector.
He criticized the establishment of 10 new government medical schools in the state in a public-private partnership model, calling it “cruel.”
“The super specialized hospitals built in each council constituency in the same model are even more cruel. The privatization of the medical sector must stop immediately. The poor will be the first to be privatized by the medical school,” he said, adding that in the model, the number of service-oriented doctors will decrease because it is business-related.
Dr. Sai Prasad listed other consequences, saying that medical expenses will increase, the number of doctors in government hospitals will decrease and treatment will become more expensive.
Dr Vijay Prakash said the right to health is the fundamental right of every citizen and the state should implement a bill under the Rajasthan Right to Health Act (2022).
The doctors then released a poster for a workshop organized by Praja Arogya Vedika on April 20 in Vijayawada on the impact of the privatisation of medical education in the state.
