A former president of Gram Panchayat, who was stabbed to death on April 29 outside his village Dharwad Taluk in Kotur village in Karnataka.
The deceased – Shankarayya Panchayya Mathapati – arrested for the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha Vice President Praveen Kammar. He was released on bail a few months ago.
On April 29, he appeared in court for a hearing. Later, he sat outside his residence, when two motorcycle riders arrived and stabbed him several times. The victim was taken to the hospital but died on the way.
The murder was captured on CCTV cameras. Police sources said preliminary investigations indicate retaliation for the murder.
Mathapati’s family accused Praveen Kammar’s brother Deepak Kammar and his assistant Nagu of being involved in the murder.
Gallagher police have registered a case and are looking for the defendant.
