Mr. Annamalay elaborated on the issue further, saying that the Kufri Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) directed Karnataka to issue 205 TMC to Tamil Nadu in 1991. This was opposed by then Karnataka Chief Minister Sarekoppa Bangarappa, then passed a state by Congress and opposition through Congress. He said: “When then-President R. Venkataraman sought opinions from the Supreme Court on this, the court ruled that it would be beneficial for Tamil Nadu to release its share of water. Chief Minister MK Stalin should understand these reality and take a balanced view.”

Asked if O. Panneerselvam, coordinator of the ADMK Worker Rights Search Committee, is still in the National Democratic Party Allaince (NDA), Mr Annamalai said the BJP did not exclude any political party from the alliance in Tamil Nadu. “OPS has always been with us [NDA]. No political parties left the coalition. The previous visit to Tamil Nadu by UN Minister of the Interior Amit Shah was for different purposes.
