The Forbes billionaire list mentions only one person in the Bollywood film industry, with a fortune of over a billion dollars. He is the renowned Indian filmmaker, entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronnie Screwvala. The media giant has more than $1.5 billion (Rs 128,158,513,500). Basically, he is the richest man in the Hindi film industry. For reference, Shah Rukh Khan has $770 million (Rs 65,892,225,000), Salman Khan has $390 million (Rs 33,292,275,000), while Amir Khan has $220 million (Rs 18,796,950,000). Their total net worth is US$1.38 billion (118,265,103,000).
Who is Ronnie Screwvala?
Born in Mumbai in 1956, Scersvala began his entrepreneurial journey in the late 1970s by making toothbrushes. In the early 1980s, when color TV was offered through the Asian Games, Screcvala took advantage of the cable boom by pioneering the concept of Indian cities. This paved the way for him to enter the entertainment department. In 1990, he founded UTV, which later became a UTV movie. Over the next two decades, the production company has been in iconic films such as Swades, Rang de Basanti, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Jodhaa Akbar, Fashion, Delhi Belly and Barfim as well as TV shows, as well as Shanti, Hip Hip Hurray, Shaka Laka Laka Boom Boom, Khichdi and Sharmarati.
