Prior to the Indian series, ECB data analysts are ready to rely on the gut as McCullum: Report

London: The England and Wales Cricket Committee fired its data analysts Freddie Wilde and Nathan Leamon, and head coach Brendon McCullum hopes to place more emphasis on intuition and intuition in the Test Series against India several weeks ahead of schedule.

England’s New World Test Championship cycle begins with a five-game winning streak in the new look of Headingley on June 20.

“Two senior cricket analysts in England, Nathan Leamon and Freddie Wilde, are leaving the move behind, which shows that the country will reduce its emphasis on the data,” the Daily Telegraph reported.

“Leamon and Wilde England’s senior data analysts and white ball analysts ended their involvement with the national team, respectively.

The report further said: “Both will not be involved in England’s white ball series against the West Indies at the end of this month, marking the beginning of Harry Brook’s reign over two limited editions.”

McCullum is not a pure data approach, he thinks it’s better for the T20 format than the longer version.

“The English hierarchy believes that in franchise cricket, analysis is more important than international games, where players tend to exploit fewer weaknesses.”

McCallum also believes that the smaller number of support staff will also bring a simple atmosphere.

The report added: “As part of this approach, England players are encouraged to take more responsibility for their preparation and performance and reduce the number of support staff during game days to disintegrate the entire locker room.”

In fact, England’s approach is contrary to the increasing emphasis on data in India’s Rahul Dravid era.

“While players are always free to consult analysts, management stresses that players should rely heavily on their intuition.

“Insiders who have worked in the IPL and the national team believe that the franchise team is now more important than England.”
