Private equity venture capital investment in Tamil Nadu in Q1 2025

In the first three months of 2025, private equity-VC (PE-VC) companies invested approximately US$1.118 million in 14 transactions in Tamil Nadu. This is a huge increase compared to the same period in 2024.

A research service focused on private company finance, transactions and its valuation, which attracted only $53 million in nine transactions a year ago, according to data shared by Venture Intelligence. The data includes venture capital investments, but does not include PE investments in real estate.

In January 2025, traction was attracted to the greatest extent in terms of investment. The biggest investment is the $10 billion investment made in Neuberg Diagnostics. Superops.ai, based in Chennai, received $25 million in funding. MyTVS and Geri Care are some other companies funded from Tamil Nadu in the first quarter of 2025. In the first three months of 2025, the angel investment rate fell by 50%, reaching 6 transactions. Tamil Nadu won 12 deals in the first quarter of 2024.

At the national level, PE-VC has invested more than US$7.9 billion in 270 transactions in Indian companies in the first three months of 2025. The investment amount is about 8% of $7.3 billion (of 264 deals) in 2024, with a small decline of 1% compared to the previous quarter (witnessing $262 in the box office, investing $262 in deals and $262 in investments.

The biggest investment in the first quarter of 2025 was a $508 million investment from Bain Capital’s publicly listed NBFC gold loan company Manappuram Finance. KKR’s acquisition of global control of hospital healthcare chains for $400 million was the second largest deal in the quarter.
