The space agency chairman V. Narayanan said that ISRO was unable to complete the Earth Observation satellite launch of the PSLV-C61 rocket on the ship on Sunday (May 18, 2025), which encountered some anomalies in its third phase.
He said the ISRO’s trusted Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is a four-stage rocket, and the first two phases are normal.
“Today, we targeted the 101st launch of Sriharikota, the PSLVC61 EOS-09 Mission. The PSLV is a four-stage vehicle that has been performing normally until the second stage. The motor of the third stage started perfectly, but during the operation of the third stage, we saw an observation, which was an observation and a task.”
The EOS-09 is a repetitive satellite similar to the EOS-04 launched in 2022, designed to ensure remote sensing data and increase observation frequency for the user community engaged in operating applications.
The mission’s payload is a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) inside the satellite, capable of providing images for a variety of Earth observation applications in all-weather conditions during day and night.
This all-round imaging is critical to applications, from agricultural and forestry monitoring to disaster management, urban planning and national security.
