PTO police officer trainee arrested for Fastag scam

A training officer from the Police Transport Organization (PTO) was arrested by Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police officers for stealing at least 10 Fastags for official police cars and illegally renting them to private taxi drivers for monetary gains. RGIA Police Inspector K. Balaraju confirmed that the defendant Nissar Ahmed, a 30-year-old Yakutpura resident, was detained.

When a private car is marked on the toll gate (ORR) of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) using a FASTAG registered under the police exemption, the fraud emerges. “Nissar has been handing over Fastags to airport taxi drivers and charging them between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000 per month,” the official said.

An investigation began after the complaint, which revealed that Nissar had stole at least 10 Fastags from police cars and had previously worked as a home guard in Petlaburj’s PTO office. He was trained by Medchal police officers at the time of his arrest.

Of the 10 Fastags, 7 have been deactivated, while 3 are still in use. According to the official, Nissar charges about Rs 2,000 per month from drivers who actively use them. Two of the drivers have been identified and efforts are being made to arrest them.
