Tiger attack spreads panic along the border of Medaram-Mahadevpur forest

Warangal: Panic caught the village near the border of the Medaram-Mahadevpur forest after allegedly killing the tiger. Forest officials confirmed the presence of Pagmak and other signs of tiger attacks, prompting increased surveillance and patrols in the forest areas of Murug and Jayashankar Bhupalpali.

A search operation has been initiated to track the tiger’s movements. Forest workers are combing through Tadvai Mandal’s Bayyakkapet, Kalvapalli and Narlapur, as well as Ailapur of Kannaigudem Mandal and Kondai of Eturnagaram Mandal. Locals in these villages are advised to be cautious and alert, but not to panic.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the Mulugu Regional Forest Official Rahul Kishan Jadhav explained that the area’s dense forests, hilly terrain and water bodies provide ideal habitat for wildlife, including prey such as leopards, wild boars, wild boars, sambar deer and mountain goats, making it suitable for Tiger sports.

The Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary in this ecoregional area is connected to important tiger reserves such as Tadoba-Andhari in Maharashtra and Indravati in Chhattisgarh. This corridor promotes regular movement of tigers between these areas. There are also occasional tiger-headed bird sightings in the Pakar Wildlife Sanctuary in Valangar District.

According to officials, tiger movements in search of food and territory have increased since December, and big cats are now found more frequently in Mulug, Mabubad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Asifabad areas. In particular, eurnagaram has become a key area for tiger activity in the former Valangar region.

Forest officials urge residents living near forest areas to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary entry into the forest, and immediately report any abnormal animal activities to the authorities.
