Punjab canceled leaves of all police officers in the Indian-Pakistan war; Amritsar resumes simulation exercises for power outages; check details

As part of the national civil defense drill, the Amritsar Regional Government resumed power outages to ensure public safety and preparation.

Punjab police have canceled all leave for their personnel on Wednesday as tensions escalated between India and Pakistan. The decision was considered for “administrative reasons” and is considered a preventive measure given the status of Punjab as a border state. According to the order of the Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, from May 7, leaves will only be granted under special circumstances. This is a video conference led by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as well as officials from border countries, including the Punjab DGP and chief secretary. Amid tensions, Punjab issued a red alarm.

As part of the national civil defense drill, the Amritsar Regional Government resumed power outages to ensure public safety and preparation. “Practice with caution, the Amritsar Regional Government has started the power outage process again. Please stay at home, don't panic, don't gather outside the house; keep the external lights off.”

The power outage in Amritsar is part of a national civil defense simulation exercise ordered by the Ministry of the Interior (MHA) to inspect emergency preparedness in the event of future threats. The exercise involves power outages in major locations across the country. Speaking about the previous power outage in Amritsar, Asi Jagtar Singh told Ani: “The power outage is between 10.30 pm and 11 pm, between half an hour and a half. The indication is that there should be no light.

Similar power outages have been observed in several states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Himaal Pradesh and Bihar. Cities such as Barmer, Gwalior, Surat, Shimla and Patna are involved by closing lights in key buildings and public spaces. In the national capital, Delhi, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Vijay Chowk also conducted drills in the dark. Patna's Raj Bhavan also competed. On the same day, civil defense simulation exercises were conducted in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Gwalior and Jaipur. These exercises are designed to assess how local authorities and citizens respond to emergencies.
