The Bellagarve-based PYAAS Foundation has restored a lake and created another lake in the Bellagarve region of Karnataka. They were handed over to stakeholders on April 30.

The foundation handed over the rejuvenated Gajapati Lake to seven and a half acres of land, which was handed over to Gram Panchayat. Rejuvenation is supported by Jinabakul Forge Private Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility Program.

This is the 14th Lake and Well Revival project, said Madhav Prabhu, chairman of the PYAAS Foundation. He said the foundation has worked in various environmental protection projects for nine years.

Minister of Women and Child Development and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Elderly Laxmi Hebbalkar thanked the Foundation for its charitable work and its members for their dedication. She urged them to continue to restore the water body and ensure support for such projects.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahul Shinde promises all cooperation.

Dhobhi Ghat Lake

The Dhobhi Ghat Lake project is unique as it is the first artificial lake built in Bellagarve in more than 50 years. A half acre of water has an artificial island where fruit-containing trees are planted. Trees are expected to attract birds and nurture nesting, resulting in a thriving miniature ecosystem.

Dr Prabhu said the project was carried out with the support of technically directed CSR from Sneham Taping Solutions and the Indian Institute of Hydrology.

The lake was handed over to Commander, Rajeev Kumar, the Marathon Light Infantry Regiment Center and Governors Commission President and Board CEO.

Brigadier General Mukherji praised the foundation’s efforts and expressed deep satisfaction with the results. Mr. Kumar acknowledged the importance of the project and promised to further enhance the lake with the garden in the public interest.
