Rahul Gandhi said Congress will continue to fight for the rights of the people.

Opposition leaders in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said on Tuesday (April 8, 2025) that the Congress-led standing committee made some recommendations to improve the lives of Indians and asserted that even among the opposition, the party will continue to use every democratic institution to fight for the rights and well-being of the people.

The former Congress president said that at the parliamentary budget meeting, the Congress-led standing committee made some recommendations to improve the lives of Indians.

In an article published on X, Gandhi said the Agriculture Commission, chaired by Charanjit Singh Channi, extended its previous legal MSP call and recommended additional compensation for Stubble Collection, as well as many key protections for farmers and fishermen.

“Under the leadership of Saptagiri Ulaka JI, the Rural Development Commission advocates expansion and strengthening of MNREGA, urging the elimination of unnecessary obstacles,” he said.

Gandhi said the Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports Commission, led by Digvijaya Singh, called for the recruitment of more teachers, reforms to end paper leaks and provide higher timely income remuneration for Anganwadi workers.

At the same time, the External Affairs Committee chaired by Shashi Tharoor highlighted the safeguards for migrant workers from abroad in India, he said.

“These are just a few examples of the Congress Party’s commitment to the welfare of the people. Even when opposing, we will continue to use every democratic institution to fight for the rights and well-being of the Indian people,” Gandhi said.
