Rainfall reduces temperature

Visakhapatnam: On Monday, thunderstorms lowered the temperature in several places in Rayalaseema. The highest rainfall was recorded at 7.2 cm in Atmakur (Anantapur area), followed by Guntakal at 6.8 cm in the same area, Chenne Kothapalli (Sri Satya Sai District) 5.4 cm, Ramagiri (Sri Satya Sai) 5.4 cm (Sri Satya Sai) 5.1 cm and Kadiri (Sri Satya Sai) 4.9 cm.

Tirupati’s record was 39.6 degrees, 4 degrees lower than Sunday. Cuddapah and Nandyal recorded 40 degrees, down a degree. The maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees C was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram (West Godavari area). Visakhapatnam Airport and Gajuwaka’s industrial area recorded 36.6 degrees C. Visakhapatnam City recorded 34 degrees.

S Stella, director of IMD Amaravati, said the temperature will gradually rise by two to three degrees compared to Tuesday.

The National Disaster Management Agency predicted heatwave conditions on 21 Mandans on 21 North Coast Andhra on Tuesday and Wednesday. Among them, one Mandal is from Srikakulam, eight are located in Vizianagaram, Anakapalli and Kakinada, three and two in East Godavari.

Authorities have issued a consultation urging seniors and children to avoid moving under the scorching sun.
