Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) compared the government of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with the rule of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, which triggered political quarrels between rulers and opposition members.

Senior Congress leader and MLA Harshvardhan Sapkal said Mr. Fadnavis’s governance was the same as that of Oranzeb.
Schiff Senna (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut claimed that the newly elected BJP government’s rule in Maharashtra is worse than that of Orlandsbu’s claiming that farmers and unemployed suicides are more serious than Orlandsbu’s rule.
“It has been 400 years since Aurangzeb was buried. Forgot him. Did the farmers in Maharashtra commit suicide because of Aurangzeb? They did it because of you (Fadnavis),” Mr Raut claimed.
His comment was in response to the Chief Minister’s statement that “everyone” believed that the grave of Mugal ruler Aurangzeb should be removed in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Mr Fadnavis said this must be done within the scope of the law, as the previous Congress regime attributed the site to the protection of the Indian Archaeological Survey.
In response to criticism, BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule condemned Congress leader Mr. Sapkal’s remarks in his post on X, saying “extremely naive and irresponsible” and “is damaging the culture of Maharashtra”.
“By comparing Aurangzeb with DevendraJI Congress Fadnavis is insulting Maharashtra’s identity. Sapka and Congress are very low. Because of their naive mindset, Congress must fight for its survival and make such absurd remarks that they are trying to stay in the news. But the people of Maharashtra are wise, and they will show the space to Sapkar and Congress. ” he added.
The fierce exchange between the ruling and opposition parties followed statements involving members of various right-wing groups, requiring Aurangzeb to be razed to the ground in Sambhaji Nagar’s grave.
