Minister MB Patil pushes faster Bengaluru – Vijayapura train trip

Karnataka Infrastructure Development Minister MB Patil on Wednesday directed officials to take the travel time between Bangalore and Vijayabra from the current 14-15 hours to about 10 hours. Mr. Patil chaired a senior review meeting with Southwest Railway officials, proposing routing changes and infrastructure upgrades to accelerate train services across the state.
To reduce delays, Mr Patil suggested transferring trains in Hubballi in the south to bypass the main Hubballi station and avoid engine replacements in Gadag. He also recommends using Gadag bypass to save travel time. Railway officials responded positively and promised to make these recommendations.
The minister reviewed several railway projects, including Gadag – Vijayapura Double Tracking, which could pave the way for Vande Bharat Express once electrified and tracked upgrades near Bagalkote.
He also addressed concerns about the Dharwad -Kittur -Belagavi series and announced a public meeting at Mammigatti to address land acquisition issues.
