Tennis star Rohan Bopanna made history with a world record. He upgraded to 16 rounds of the men’s doubles in the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters Championship with partner Ben Shelton. For the 45-year-old PLD player, the 40s player has performed well while breaking many records, which is a blessing.
Bopanna also owns a restaurant in Bangalore with his wife Supriya Annaiah. Bopanna, in partnership with Bangalore-based Flying Squirrels, is a miniature Roastery and Café, Bopanna has launched its own coffee series Rohan Bopanna’s Master Blend. This shows his love for coffee, as he grew up in a coffee estate in Kurg.
In an era when most sports athletes retire, Rohan Bopanna defeated Argentina with his partner Ben Shelton – Chile vs. Francisco Cerundolo, Alejandro Tabilo, won 32 games in the current running Monte Carlo Masters.
Rohan Bopanna and Ben Shelton, an unseeded Indian-American duo, had a straight win on April 6-3 and 7-5. They face Italian couple Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the 16th round of the match Tuesday, April 8.
Rohan Bopanna created many records
Rohan Bopanna became the oldest player in singles and doubles at the age of 45, winning the game in the ATP 1000 Championship and the first to celebrate his milestone shortly after his 45th birthday.
He has two major doubles Grand Slam titles, the 2024 Australian Open and the 2017 French Open, where he scored the 22-year-old Sheldon, 23-year-old.
Canadian tennis player Daniel Nestor broke the record early at 44 years and 8 months. In the 2017 Madrid Masters men’s doubles match, he defeated Bopanna and then-partner Pablo Cuevas with his partner Fabrice Martin.
In 2024, he became the oldest player to win the ATP Masters 1000 title, breaking another record with Australia’s Matt Eden at the 2024 Miami Open. In another win, in the Australian Open Men’s Doubles that same year, he became the oldest player to win a Grand Slam in the Open Age at 43 years and 9 months.
