GVMC Council braces conduct distrust showdown

Visakhapatnam:The large Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Committee will discuss a motion without confidence against Mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari on April 19.

The company from the TD-led alliance is from Malaysia and discusses a motion against Deputy Mayor Jiyyani Sridhar.

The special meeting in the GVMC Council Hall was a critical moment in the political landscape of Visakhapatnam.

The company from YSRC is expected to arrive in Visakhapatnam from Sri Lanka on April 20. However, they will not be subject to confidence to disband themselves with the proceedings.

Visakhapatnam collector Harendhira Prasad held a meeting with GVMC officials on Thursday to discuss preparations for the council meeting. He asked the executive and ID card officials to ensure the smooth progress of the meeting.

Former members and ward representatives attending the meeting have been directed to enter the parliamentary hall venue to convert their cell phone mode to flight mode. Access is limited to individuals with valid ID certificates.

The TD leaders say their alliance consists of companies composed of TD, JS, BJP and Ex-Officio members, with a total strength of 75. Jana Sena leaders claimed that their party had 14 members due to the YSRC’s defection, which increased from three to 11 members.

YSRC leader Amarnath expressed confidence in his party’s ability to oppose a motion of distrust. “We are whipping and urging collectors to vote on trustless motions in a fair way,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muthamsetty Lakshmi Priyanka, daughter of former YSRC minister Muthamsetty Avanti Srinivas, Whip, chief of YSRC company in ward sixth , and GVMC, announced her resignation from YSRC.

As New York City expects this critical meeting, the different strategies of the two political factions highlight the deep gap within the council. The outcome of this motion will have a profound impact on Visakhapatnam’s governance and political dynamics.
