Randhir Jaiswal condemns killing of Hindu minority leaders in Bangladesh

New Delhi: India on Saturday condemned the alleged kidnapping and killing of a Hindu minority leader in Bangladesh and called on the interim government in Dhaka to fulfill its responsibility to protect ethnic minorities.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said in a social media post that the “brutal killing” of Babish Chandra Roy follows the “systematic persecution” of ethnic minorities in Bangladesh.

“We have noticed the kidnapping and brutal killing of Shri Bhabesh Chandra Roy, the leader of Hindu minority in Bangladesh,” he said.

“The killing is a pattern of systematic persecution of Hindu minorities under the Provisional Government, even if the perpetrators of previous events roam without punishment,” Jaswal said.

He added: “We condemn this incident, once again reminding the Provisional Government of responsibility for protecting all ethnic minorities, including Hindus, without inventing excuses or making distinctions.”

In the face of massive anti-government protests, the Indian-Bangladesh relationship has experienced a sharp decline in the Indian-Bangladesh relationship.

The relationship fell sharply after the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, failing to curb attacks on minorities, especially Hindus.
