The Central Administrative Tribunal convened a petition filed by senior IAS official A. Vani Prasad, seeking instructions to her to assign to Telangana Cadre.
The official served retirement for two years. The Union Government’s personnel and training ministry recently assigned her to Andhra Pradesh cadres along with a number of other officials, part of the All India Service Officer in the context of creating a separate Telangana state from unified Andhra Pradesh.
IAS officials challenged the order, moving Cat-Hyderabad, seeking instructions to assign her to Telangana Cadre. She argued that she spent her childhood in Hyderabad and studied in the same city. However, her birthplace is Guntur of AP. The bench notes that adjustments to officials should follow the allocation order in the public interest.
