Leonard Lane of Richmondtown transforms into community cleanup drives

People participated in the clearing driving in Leonard Lane, Richmond town
Leonard Lane made a significant shift on Saturday, thanks to a cleanup and beautification driver led by the Ugly Indians (TUI) and working with residents, children, BBMP workers and local traffic police.
The garbage stretch that once plagued by abandoned vehicles has now become a walking trail 33 years later.
“We have formed a group to keep it clean and ensure regular garbage collection,” said Kavitha Hemant Rao, a member of the Citizen Welfare Association.
She added that cleaning includes pest control, tree pruning, music and ice cream stalls to create a festive environment.
The children wear aprons and join in, painting the walls under professional guidance. The project is divided into phases – illegally parked vehicles, cleaning up debris, planting pots and active residents to participate.
TUI is known for its action-driven civic movement, coordinates with the BBMP to clean, repair walls and ensure long-term maintenance. “Our goal is citizen engagement. We provide tools and materials to help people take action instead of complaining,” the TUI team said.
