Reliance power unit ensures 350 MW solar and storage projects, 2.5 GW clean energy pipeline

New Delhi: Reliance Nu Energies, a subsidiary of Reliance Power Ltd, has obtained a 350 MW solar project integrated with the 175 MW/700 MWH battery battery storage system (BESS) through the competitive bidding process for running SJVN in the state.

Reliance Power said in a statement Monday that once operated, the project will add 600 MWP of solar PV capacity and 700 MWH of storage space, thereby increasing its total clean energy pipeline to 2.5 GWP solar and 2.5 GWH of BESS.

The winning tariff is set as ₹3.33 per kilowatt-hour (kilowatt-hour), fixed for 25 years. Reliance Nu Energies is waiting for the SJVN’s reward (LOA).

The project is a bid for a larger 1,200 MW solar and 600 MW/2,400 MWH BESTS connection, which is Floating by Navratna Public Sector Commitment (PSU) SJVN. The tender, which has attracted 19 bidders over four times, has 18 bids eligible for the electronic reversal auction, highlighting a strong interest in adjustable renewable energy solutions.

The awarded projects stipulate at least four hours of emissions windows per day to ensure reliable peak power delivery to the state disco. It will be developed under the Building Operations (BOO) model where developers independently own and operate the facility.

In addition, another Reliance Power unit, Reliance NU Suntech Private Ltd, signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) (SECI) to develop Asia’s largest integrated solar and Bess project. The project has a capacity of 930 MW of solar, 465 MW/1,860 MWH of Bass, and will require investment ₹10,000 million.

Reliance Power is part of the Reliance Group and currently operates 5,305 MW of electricity assets, including 3,960 MW of Sasan Power Ltd., a coal plant.
