Sri Krishnadevaraya’s 1518 CE Inscription Desire to Follow

Vijayawada: Dr E. Sivanagi Reddy, archaeologist and CEO of the Foundation for Exploration India, said that the stone inscriptions of the powerful Vijayanagara Emperor Srikrishnadevaraya gradually sinking into the ground at the Durgi Mandal headquarters in the Parnadu district.

Based on information provided by local sculptors. Srinivasachary, Dr. Reddy inspected the inscriptions at the Venkateswara Temple site on Friday. He revealed that the date was Monday, November 22, 1518. It was published by Timmapa Nayanim, the doorkeeper of Sri Krishnadevaraya. It records the donations of the village of Gundala located in Durgi, which is for the purposes of Anga, Ranga Bhogas and Amritapadi (festival and dedication) for the gods Vireswara and Vankeswara.

Archaeologists say the inscription plate contains 55 Telugu languages. However, only 19 lines of scripts are seen. The remaining 36 rows are illegible because the plate has shrunk to the ground.

Given the historical significance of the inscription board, Dr. Sivanagi Reddy called on the citizens of Durgi and the authorities of the Venkateswara Temple to preserve their descendants. The plate must be excavated, erected on the base of its full view, and with signage to benefit the scholars of research and future generations.
