Riyan Parag’s bitter history as Rajasthan Royal Captain after losing to KKR

The 23-year-old cricketer became the first male player born in Assam to the history of the IPL team. However, his leadership debut was damaged by unnecessary records: becoming the first RR captain to lose two games in a row.
Parag’s RR suffered eight goals defeats at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, bringing the scent of pain after he first took the helm.
Meanwhile, the first loss, perhaps Doom series, comes after a major 44 defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 23, the match made RR acknowledge RR’s 286 runs, second only to the highest total in IPL history.
Parag played the role of captain due to the injury of regular Sanju Samson, but these early losses caused challenges for rookie captains as he led to pressure to lead a team’s competitive IPL.
Palag’s Leadership Journey
Parag’s first game was in the Captain’s first game on March 23, 2025, when Samson led the Royals against SRH due to a finger injury, making him unsuitable for savage and goalkeepers.
Despite this setback, Samson played two games during the batting process, staying in touch with the team with limited abilities during the batting process.
Parag’s leadership debut included his famous roster with RR captains, which included cricket legends such as Shane Warne, Shane Watson, Rahul Dravid, Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson.
But despite the honor of leading the team, Parag’s record is still a difficult start to a promising leadership career.
Looking to the future: Will Parag’s luck change?
As the captain’s condition continues to develop, Palag will play his next match again with the Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati on March 30.
While the young captain will continue to guide the ship for at least another match, Rajasthan Royals fans will hope to change their destiny.
Regular Captain Sanju Samson is expected to return to the Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on April 5.
Sanju Samson’s legacy as captain RR is temporarily absent, but remains strong. He shared most of the RR captain’s victory records with Shane Warne and won 31 wins.
In addition, the Senator became the second captain after Warne, guiding the royal family to the 2022 IPL finals. Under Warne, the Rajasthan Royals won the only IPL title in the 2008 season, providing high positions for future captains such as Samson and Parag.
