CPI(M) on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) requested a judicial investigation into violence in the Murhidabad area of West Bengal.
CPI(M) West Bengal State Secretary Mohammed Salim claimed that police were accused of incorrectly calming Murshidabad’s violence, claiming that such an independent investigation would need to uncover the truth behind the conflict.
“We requested a judicial investigation into the violence in Merhidabad by a judge in the Kolkata High Court.”
Mr Salim said CPI(M) also demanded compensation for those affected by violence.

The CPI(M) leader also said he filed a petition on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) and the Supreme Court challenged the constitutionality of the WAQF (Amendment) bill.
“It’s not a question between the two religions, but about the fundamental rights of Muslims, which were taken away by a new bill passed in parliament,” he said.
Mr Salim also claimed that Haragobinda Das, who was hacked with his son, was a former member of CPI(M), and he had stopped continuing his membership due to his seniority.
CPI(M) leaders claim that both the BJP and the Trinamool Congress are trying to split the people on the religious line.
Mr Salim said the left line demanded the convening of troops to deal with the situation in Mercidabad.
Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel have been deployed in Merhidabad as ordered by the Kolkata High Court to bring peace in troubled areas of the region.
