Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma said he “never imagined” being named after him at Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has paid tribute to the sport’s outstanding contribution over the past two decades, especially the five-time IPL champions of the Mumbai Indians, which was awarded on Friday.
During the MCA Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 15, the decision was made to dedicate to Rohit. Along with Rohit, the stance will also pay tribute to former Indian captain Ajit Wadekar and former MCA president Sharad Pawar.
“It’s an illusion to keep your stand on my name and I’ll be forever grateful. You never know how long you’ll play, but it’s something I (never) imagine to get these honors.”

The Devecha Pavilion Level 3 booth will now proudly be named after Rohit Sharma, celebrating his leadership and achievements, including India’s recent T20 World Cup victory in the United States and the West Indies, as well as the ICC Championship Trophy that won the UAE earlier this year. Additionally, the Large Level 4 will honor the late Ajit Wadekar, a legend who won India historic Test Series victory in England and the West Indies in 1971. The Large Booth Level 3 will be dedicated to Sharad Pawar, who has been valued for changing the Wankhede Stadium and Unders Trunchings of Trunch the Wankhede Stadium and the 2011 World Cup, and he has played a major role in him.
