Rooftop Aviation Turbine: No Promotions, No KERC or ESCOM Awareness

Electricity consumers are confused after Karnataka Electric Power Regulatory Commission (KERC) announced that it would be possible to install rooftop aviation turbines (rats), but officials from the Electric Power Supply Company (ESCOMS) said they don’t know this.
“I saw media reports that these wind systems could be installed and thought it would be a good addition to my existing rooftop solar system. But when I went to the Bengaluru Electric Power Supply Company (BESCOM) subdivision office to ask, they said they knew nothing about these systems,” said Venkatachalam R.
When asked, even senior BESCOM officials said they didn’t know about the systems. However, KERC said interested consumers can directly contact the committee instead of ESCOM. In March, KERC sought advice from stakeholders to determine tariffs on rats. Now, since the Commission has not received any practicable recommendations, it has decided to adopt a specific project-specific tariff approach.
If any consumer is interested in installing a rat system, they will determine tariffs on them based on the turbines, capacity and other factors they obtain. Currently, there are two available mouse systems in the market – horizontal and vertical industries. One is made in Europe. One is made in Europe, in India, one can take action.
Although the commission announced it would provide promotional tariff rates for rats as the initiative aims to encourage power generation and reduce reliance on the grid, officials said nothing was taken to promote the plan itself.
Experts say KERC is not directing the problem’s expert KERC, rather than putting the responsibility on the consumer. “Unless KERC conducts thorough research and informs consumers about the most feasible places in rats, consumers will not find any motivation to install them. The committee should let them know if the rat system works in a specific area/region, as wind power is different anywhere,” said MG Prabhakar, KERCR, KERC, KERC, KERCR, KERC, KERC, KERC.
He added: “The government does not have to conduct large renewable energy projects. They need to participate and participate in all consumers. 3ps, theoretical probability, possibility in terms of financial viability and the advantages of capacity limits imposed on this engagement.”
