Rs 1,000 issued, increasing Ashas’ remuneration

On Thursday, May 15, the state government issued a government order to release funds to increase the remuneration payments to recognized Social Health Activists (ASHAs) by increasing Rs 1,000.

Of the 42,524 approved ASHA positions under the National Health Mission, 41,000 are working. Up to 25,996 Ashas have received additional remuneration under these team-based incentives. The GO released on May 15 has released additional funds to pay an additional Rs 1,000 to the remaining 15,004 Ashas.

D. Nagalakshmi, secretary of the All India Union Trade Union Centre, expressed welcome to the government’s move, saying Ashs was eagerly awaiting the promised total remuneration of Rs 10,000. “We have been connecting with the government and hope there is some good news as soon as possible,” she said.
