Delhi to Jaipur in 2.5 hours: New highway link promises faster and smoother travel starting in June

The fresh 67km access controlled highway connects Bandikui to Jaipur Loop. It shortened the route by 20 km and eliminated the need to exit in Dausa and use the slower NH-21. This development is part of a broader plan to reduce traffic between the two major cities and improve road safety.
New routes relieve stress on existing highways
Currently, vehicles from Delhi, Gurgaon and Faridabad leave the expressway in Dasa. They then switch to NH-21, a four-lane road that winds through towns and villages with a maximum speed limit of 100 kmph. This makes the journey slower and prone to delays.
With the new Bandikui link, drivers will no longer need to make these transitions. All stretches from DND Flyway in Delhi to Jaipur will become seamless once the new section is opened.
ROB part pending; temporary transfers may
Although most of the structure is completed, part of it remains. The railway on the Delhi-Ahmedabad line is still working.
“The highway controlled expressway has been completed, except for a railway lane over bridge (ROB) in the Delhi-Ashimadabad railway department, which is expected to be completed by May-End. In the last month of the previous month, whether this one-km small extension can be made in the last month of the next month,” said a senior Nhai nhai official.
Extra inspection before final cleaning
NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav warned not to rush to open. At a recent summit, he urged engineers to thoroughly inspect stretches before allowing public use.“We are building high-speed corridors and these get inaugurated. There should be no deficiency. So, it’s necessary that field officers and authority engineers drive on these stretches multiple times before giving the certificate to allow traffic. You must see whether it is really ready for operation. We can’t afford to have a situation where after inauguration there are pockets and then complaints. We would prefer a little delay to address all the flaws before opening up,” Yadav said.
Monsoon courses promote tighter control
Complaints from the rainy season have prompted authorities to take action. The paths that once changed during the monsoon are under rigorous scrutiny.
NHAI has asked field staff to complete all preventive maintenance ahead of time, especially on the Delhi Mumbai Expressway. The goal is to avoid repeating the previous years when road conditions during the monsoon were bad, which attracted criticism from commuters and the media.
Commuters from Gaziabad Noida benefit by December
Another major improvement is the coming. By December, the first 9 km extension of the DND Flyway-KMP swap on DELHI-MUMBAI Expressway is expected to become operational. This will provide a smooth route to Jaipur for those traveling from Noida, Ghazabad and East Delhi.
Once both links are completed, it can be extended 260 km from DND Flyway to Jaipur via Bandikui without breaking. These changes are part of a larger vision to increase the speed of travel between cities while reducing the pressure on existing routes.
