According to media reports, fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi is currently living in Antwerp, Belgium with his wife Preeti Choksi after obtaining a “residence card” in the country.

Choksi was wanted in India for a connection with a bank loan fraud case of Rs 13,500 crore and is believed to have lived in Antigua and Barbuda before heading to Belgium.
His wife Preeti is a Belgian citizen.
According to media reports, Choksi is currently living in Antwerp, Belgium with his wife Preeti Choksi, who has obtained a “F residence card” in the country and resides.
The report claims Choksi gave misleading and fabricated documents to obtain Belgium’s right to residency to escape extradition to India.
Choksi submitted “false statements” and “forged documents” to the Belgian authorities and misrepresented his nationality during the application process, failing to disclose details of his existing Indian and Antigua citizenship.
It said he reportedly plans to move to Switzerland on the grounds of medical treatment at the famous cancer hospital.
Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi allegedly withdraw Rs 13,500 crore in public funds from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) through the fraudulent commitment letter.
Nirav Modi was in a London prison and extraditioned to India after repeatedly refusing court bail.
In May 2021, Choksi disappeared from Antigua but was traced back to later.
