Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently talked about the pay gap in the film industry. She said she was eager to ensure fair salary for film actors through her production company Tralala Moving Pictures.
The actress revealed in an interview with Foodpharmar that she works and her reward is “sharply different” from male co-stars. “I’ve been in a few movies and I’m not sure why, but in the same days and characters, your salary is very different. I know that huge movies are hero-driven, and heroes draw audiences into the theater. However, I recognize that there is a difference. However, the characters in this movie are equally demanding, and obviously there is a difference.”
She added: “I’ve been in the industry for 15 years and what I want to do now is to avoid repeated mistakes. I won’t be able to change my situation. But I can do something about the future. You have to put your weight behind the things that bother you. I’m sure you’ll find your purpose in the things you worry about.
