Police suspected the short circuit caused the house in Kombodinjal near Idukki on Saturday night. According to police, four of a family were found dead. The victim was identified as Subha, 39, with her child, Abhinand, 9, Abhinav, 5, Subha’s mother, Ponnamma, 75.
Idukki Police Deputy Commissioner (DYSP) Jilson Mathew said the house could catch fire in the early hours of Friday night or Saturday. “While the body of five-year-old Abhinav is identifiable, three other bodies were found to be burnt. The house is located in an isolated place,” the official said.
He said the body was transferred to the Idukki Government Medical College Hospital for an autopsy after the forensic examination. “The cause of death can only be confirmed after the autopsy results are obtained,” Mr Mathew said.
Police have also ruled out suicide. “As of now, we have not received any evidence of suicide,” the official said.
