Santhosh Kumar, Santhosh Echikkanam, Shafi Poovathinkal Win OV Vijayan Awards

Writers E. Santhosh Kumar, Santhosh Echikkanam and Shafi Poovathinkal won the 2024 OV Vijayan Memorial Literature Award.

Mr. Santhosh Kumar won the award for his novel JnanabharamMr. Echikkanam won the award for his short story anthology Kavana. Mr. Poovathinkal won the award for his unpublished story of young writers. raqeebinum atheedinum iDayile nunakal.

OV Vijayan Smaraka Samiti secretary Tr Ajayan said here on Saturday that the winners were chosen by conducting strict screenings of more than 200 writers. “We have over 200 works by different writers sent by different publishers, as well as many suggestions and suggestions from established writers. We have a grand jury of 20 writers who screened and shortlisted these works through a rigorous process.”

Jury members Rajesh Menon, PR Jayaseelan and Manoj Veettikkad said they were very careful to thoroughly evaluate the works to select the most worthy awards.

Awards for the novel and short story collection will include plaques, citations and a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The young writer’s unpublished story award will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000 with a plaque and citation.

Mr Rajesh Menon said that despite the moderate bonus, the Young Writer Award is of great significance due to his connection with the well-known writer OV Vijayan.

Mr Ajayan said the awards ceremony, which was scheduled for May 18, could be postponed due to tensions along the national borders.
