Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi’s Secretary-General and Villupuram MP D. Ravikumar passed a resolution with Pattali Makkal Katchi at the Vanniyar Youth Conference on Monday, requiring the booking of the caste in Tamil Nadu to increase by 2%.
In a social media post, Mr Ravi Kumar asked how the party reached 2% of the number of people in 2% when the population of the pre-determined caste was much higher.
He said: “Based on the 2011 census, this may be acceptable. However, according to the 2018-19 annual survey survey conducted by the Tamil Nadu Family Group, the 2018-19 annual survey funded by the state government, the population of the scheduled caste is 23.7% in Tamil Nadu.”
