Andhra launches CR Amaravati project of Rs 65,000, PM invites groundbreaking

Vijayawada, April 13: Work has begun the Amalawati City Project of Rs 65,000 crore – the new capital of Andhra Pradesh on the bank of the Krishna River to establish a “people’s capital” that attracts skilled immigrants, industries, professionals and businesses around the world.

Officials say the work restarts the work to build a world-class urban center inspired by global cities such as Amsterdam, Singapore and Tokyo, which is not only vibrant, diverse, inclusive and modern, but also acts as a magnet for skilled immigration, industry, business, business, business, business and professionals.

The project plans include: a government city covering 1,093 hectares that will house government offices and residential areas, a justice city spanning 1,339 hectares, which will be a hub for the judiciary and provide financial cities covering 2,091 hectares with economic activity aimed at promoting economic activity compared to commercial and residential space. Other areas such as Education City, Health City, Sports City, Electronic City, Media City and Tourism City are also part of the Blueprint, aiming to create a balanced urban ecosystem. To ensure sustainable development, the project highlights green and blue infrastructure, including water bodies, reservoirs and green spaces. International consultants, such as Arcadis, based in the Netherlands, are involved in designing these features to enhance the environmental and aesthetic appeal of the city. The first building visible to Amaravati includes well-known educational institutions such as VIT, SRM and AMRITA University. Looking ahead, Pilani plans to start in 2026 and XLRI will also start campus soon. Mangalagiri’s AIIMS also works in the capital. The APCRDA Project Office will be established within six months, while government buildings include housing for government officials – MLA, MLC, ministers, judges, secretary, etc. – will operate within 18 months. The High Court will raise the legislative sessions such as the Government Office Building and other legislative sessions within 24 months and the Secretariat will raise the price within 36 months. The Government of India and Andhra Pradesh government organizations, hospitals, banks, schools and other private organizations are expected to start within a month or two and be fully established within the next 2-4 years.
