SC Seeking Center’s Response to Requests for Prohibition of Sexually Clear Content on Social Media

The Supreme Court seeks response from the center on Monday, while others seek instructions on pleas to take appropriate measures to prohibit sexually explicit content on OTT and social media platforms. Justices Br Gavai and Augustine George Masih said the petition attracted an important concern, with the issue within the field of the executive or legislature. Justice Gawai said: “As such, there are some accusations that we are embezzling the legislature and executive powers.”

The bench told lawyer Tushar Mehta that for the centre comes up, the government should do something about the questions raised in the request. Mehta said some regulations already exist, and some are being considered. Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain appears as the petitioner.

The Supreme Court is hearing requests from five petitioners, who also seek guidelines that constitute the national content control agency to prohibit sexually explicit content on OTT and social media platforms.
