A 37-year-old man from Kancheepuram district, wanted in several job fraud cases in Tamil Nadu, was arrested by customs officials at the port of Nagapatinam, allegedly trying to flee to Sri Lanka by sea ferry.
Pozhichalur Prem Nagar’s defendant Kirubakaran is a history of accused of cheating several youths through a statewide commitment to work overseas. Several police stations have registered cases for cheating tens of millions of rupees on him.
After complaints from Banumathi and other complaints from people from Kallareathottam and Uppalam Road, the Nagapattinam District Crime Department registered a case of such claiming that Kirubakaran took Rs 10.5 lakh from them on the pretext of ensuring work abroad.
Police have searched Kirubakaran. He was found at the port of Nagapatinam on Sunday during a security check and tried to leave the ferry to Sri Lanka. Customs officials detained him and handed him over to the Nagapatinam Town Police Department, who later transferred him to the district crime department for investigation.
