SDPI’s exit from the AIADMK alliance reflects the trust of ethnic minorities in DMK: Anbil Mahesh

School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi welcomed the decision of the Indian Social Democratic Party (SDPI) to withdraw from the AIADMK-BJP coalition on Saturday, saying it reflects the growing trust of ethnic minority communities in the DMK leadership.

He is opening other summer art training huts at the “Ponni Chithirai Kadal” centre in Nagapattinam, which was established under the regional education and authorization scheme.

“Muslims who already support AIADMK have gradually left the party,” Mr Mahesh said.

He criticized the union government for passing the WAQF (Amendment) Act “late night”, paralleling the Citizenship Amendment (CAA), which he said played a role in the performance of the BJP in the 2021 election. He added: “The WAQF (Amendment) bill will also be reflected in the upcoming election results.”

Responding to the question of water shortage in rural areas of the region, Mr. Mahesh said that measures are being taken to address drinking water shortages in Nagapattinam in the summer.
